Returns & alterations

A blouse cut and embroidered to your measurements cannot go back on a shelf — so instead of a returns theatre, we promise the two things that actually matter: one free alteration within 15 days, and any loose stone re-fixed free for six months.

One free alteration, within 15 days

If the fit is off when your blouse arrives, we alter it once, free, provided you tell us within 15 days of delivery. That covers anything on our side — a seam, a dart, a sleeve, the length. Courier it back to us (we'll guide the packing) or bring it to the T. Nagar studio; alterations typically take 3–5 working days plus transit.

  • Alterations needed because your measurements changed after ordering, or because numbers were sent instead of a sample blouse and turned out to be wrong, are chargeable at ₹300–800 depending on the work involved. We'll tell you which side of the line your case falls on before touching the piece — in writing, as always.
  • Some things physically cannot be altered once a blouse is cut: a neckline or back depth cannot be made shallower (the fabric is gone), and a heavily embroidered panel cannot be let out. This is stated on every product page and in the acknowledgements you check at order time — it is the reason we push so hard on measurements up front.
  • Return courier for a free alteration is on us one way; you cover the leg back to the studio.

Loose stones — re-fixed free for 6 months

Everything on a Sridevi blouse is stitched, never glued, so the work holds up to normal wear. But zardozi wire, kundan settings and cutdana are still fragile things, and a hard knock or a snagged thread can loosen a stone — it happens occasionally even on well-made pieces. Keep the stone if you can, bring or courier the blouse back within six months of delivery, and we re-fix it free. After six months we repair at a nominal charge. Never re-glue a stone yourself — fabric glue stains permanently and cannot be reversed.

Why custom pieces are non-returnable

Every made-to-order blouse is cut to one person's measurements and worked to one brief. It has no second buyer, which is why no honest made-to-order studio offers change-of-mind returns — and why we put our effort into the quote, the daylight fabric photo and the progress photos before the piece is finished, so there are no surprises at the door. What you can always do:

  • Cancel before we cut — full refund of everything you've paid, no questions. See Payments & cancellations.
  • Ready-to-ship pieces (studio stock in standard sizes, marked on the product) may be exchanged for another piece or a credit note within 7 days if unworn, with tags intact. These are the only items that can come back.

If we got it wrong

If what arrives does not match the written brief — wrong neckline, wrong back, a colour scheme different from the approved daylight photo — that is our error, and the free alteration limit does not apply. We fix it or remake it at our cost, courier both ways included. Photograph the piece, message us within 15 days, and we'll take it from there.

What is not a defect

Slight irregularity in hand embroidery — a motif a few millimetres off its mirror, minor variation in stitch density — is the nature of handwork, not a flaw; a machine-perfect blouse would not be an aari blouse. Likewise, screen colours differ from real fabric, which is why we send a daylight photo of the actual fabric and thread for your approval before we start. Both points are covered plainly in the Terms.
