Our heaviest piece. The jaal is laid out as a single continuous lattice so nothing breaks at the shoulder seam or the side panel — the design reads as one field of gold from the front, over the shoulder and down the back. Kundan stones sit at each lattice intersection in claw settings, and the sleeve is worked right to the mohri so nothing is left plain when the arm is raised. How it is made Worked on the adda frame in continuous aari chain stitch. Dabka is cut on the frame and laid over a soft cotton padding to give the lattice its raised edge; nakshi fills the interiors so the two coils catch light at different angles. Kundan is hand-set last, each stone locked with four anchor stitches. What it suits The muhurtham saree — Kanchipuram, heavy Banarasi or a temple-border silk. Balance it with fewer jewellery layers; this yoke is the statement.

Made-to-measure pieces are not returnable — they are cut against your body. What we do promise in writing: one free alteration within 15 days of delivery for anything on our side, and a loose stone re-fixed free for 6 months. Once a blouse is cut, a neckline or back cannot be made shallower, and a heavily embroidered panel cannot be let out. Full policy

• Dry-clean only. Never machine wash, never soak, never hand-wash. Water dulls zari, tarnishes zardozi wire and can rust the metal in kundan settings.
• Tell your dry-cleaner it is hand embroidery with metal work and stones, and ask for gentle solvent cleaning with the work protected. Avoid cleaners who press the piece flat under a machine.
• For a small mark, dab — do not rub — with a dry white cloth, and take it to the cleaner rather than treating it at home.
• Iron only from the reverse, on low heat, with a cotton cloth between the iron and the fabric.
• Never iron over stones, kundan or 3-D motifs at all. Press the plain areas around them.
• Turn the blouse inside out before storing, so the work faces inward.
